A mild traumatic brain injury/concussion is generally classified as a brain injury as a result of physical, blunt trauma. Since the brain is suspended in cerebral fluid as opposed to stationary in a fixed position, it is susceptible to moving and twisting when sudden acceleration or deceleration from direct force is applied to the skull.
